5 Simple Truths

  • Always be early or on-time no matter what! I've had to learn this the hard way, and i really wish someone would have been there to teach me the importance of this simple little trick. Try it out for 30 days and watch how your life improves and how much happier people will be with you.

  • When you make a commitment to be somewhere, keep it! I know way too many flakes in my life, people who make a bunch of plans and then when something else better comes along they get up and cancel on you. I know it's not always easy to commit, but when you do it really means a lot if you keep that commitment. People hate flakes, and it won't get you too far in life.

  • Life ain't always easy. We all fall down and occasionally feel like the world around us is crashing down. I've experienced this first hand many many times. All i can say about this one is to never give up hope. As long as you have hope, you have a reason to live. Keep pushing through the hard times and just remember that even though we all fall down, the successful ones are the ones who learn to get back up right away and keep going.

  • Dress for success and keep up your hygiene. This one is pretty much self explanatory. If you are always the best dressed in the room, your chances for success are much higher. Just remember its always better to show up to an event overdressed than underdressed. As far as hygiene goes, take more showers, cut your hair, brush your teeth, clip your nails, etc....

  • Always give 110% no matter what the task at hand. Not only will this teach you humility and the importance of hardwork, but you will also reap all the benefits of the hardwork you put in. A hardworker in today's society is pretty valuable and i am sure would be quickly picked up by any company.

Corruption

A couple days ago while meditating at the neighborhood train-tracks, a biker asked me if I was alright. He asked me genuinely and from the bottom of his heart. Usually there are about 30-35 people who pass by while I meditate there. This biker was the only one who acknowledged my presence that day. If only the world was filled with more people like this man who genuinely cared for the well-being of a stranger. Thats the world I want to live in. A world where we are embodied as one and our only goal is to promote the well being of others. When that finally happens, Wake me up. Because until then I am just existing in reality and going through the motions.

On second thought; why would any of that matter?
We live in a society that is corrupt. We are led by a government that has a little too much power. And we are brainwashed by the media that constantly spits out lies. There is no longer any chivalry, and there is no longer any respect. We would rather eat steroid injected processed hamburgers than a home cooked meal all for the sake of convenience. We sleep in till noon and we always complain about how there's never enough time. All of that, and the fact that we are still on the pursuit of happiness.
Now tell me, why would any of that matter?

I am not proposing that we start over from scratch and I am not saying that we should put on a mask. We just need to learn how to enjoy the simpler things in life. Rather than taking some swigs out of a flask. And while we are at it, we should open doors for each other too. I know it's not a big change, but hopefully it will be the start of something new.

Creativity at it's finest

Creativity is a trait that we all desire. Believe it or not, we all have the ability to be creative. Some of us have just been trained more than others in this area, but it is comforting to know that this trait can be improved if just a little effort is put into it. Whether you are a graphic designer or a determined business man, we all need to be able to tap in to our creative side from time to time. Here is a list of some actions which will help stimulate creativity for those crazy brainstorming sessions.

Actions to Stimulate Creativity

  • Listen to music
  • Change locations
  • Tell yourself that YOU are creative
  • Ask What if?
  • Push your limits
  • Try combining things
  • Cross train your brain
  • Eat some food
  • Bounce ideas off others
  • Change something
  • Add 5 more ideas
  • Stretch
  • Find out more ( do some research)
  • Break assumptions
  • Always remember that NO idea is a bad idea when it comes to brainstorming

Early Riser?

Guide to Waking up Early in the Morning
I have searched all over the internet and collected a few of the best tips for waking up early for your enjoyment.  Turns out, waking up early isn't such a bad thing after all. In fact, it has been proven to be very beneficial to your health and also will help you squeeze a few extra hours out of your busy day.

Dont Hit Snooze
Take a loud enough alarm clock and put it away from your bed so you would have to stand up and take a few steps to the alarm to turn it off. Do not ever hit SNOOZE- those extra 5 or 10 minutes will not help you much and very likely you will end up being late for work or school.
·
           Know your Priorities
Stop watching TV, playing computer games or browsing the interwebs at least 2 hours before you go to sleep. Use this time to do some relaxing stuff- go for a walk outside (take the dog with you), read a book, plan your next day, pretty much anything that will help you unwind and relax. Open windows to refresh the air in your room before going to sleep- fresh air improves the quality of your sleep.
·
Drink a glass of water
A cool glass of water on an empty stomach actually has a lot of health benefits as well as helping to wake you up. The water will kick start your metabolism and will cause you to wake up faster and feel more alert.

Exercise
When you are groggy in the morning, a nice run in the fresh air can wake you up fast. However, the interesting thing is that when you exercise in the morning you will actually have more energy the NEXT day. The more you exercise the more energy you will have as you become fitter and healthier.

Breathe Deeply
The first thing you should do in the morning is take in some deep breaths and concentrate on waking up. Imagine breathing in a bright white light that makes your body feel happy and light.

Get up straight away
One of the best things you can do to wake up early and feel alert and fresh is to get up straight  away. As soon as your alarm goes off you should get up without snoozing it over and  over again.

Smile
Finally, the first thing you should do when you hear your alarm clock buzz is.... Smile! It's a new day, new adventures, new experiences, new friends, new opportunities! This all is well worth waking up earlier, isn't it?
